Bay Cities recently celebrated its 69th birthday with Bay Day. Since 1956, Bay Cities has stood out in the world of industrial packaging, retail packaging and in-store displays by staying true to its core: innovation, sustainability, and 100% employee ownership.
As the fiscal year wrapped at the end of June, Bay Cities reflected on some of the milestones from the last year.
Honors and Awards
This year, Bay Cities’ award-winning design team was recognized with three OMA Awards, including one Gold and two Silvers, plus a Sustainability Award for pushing the limits of what merchandising can be. Additionally, it received the honor of a Progressive Grocer Impact Award in Sustainability/Resource Conservation, underscoring its commitment to innovation that’s not just eye-catching, but also environmentally responsible.
New Office Opening, Reduced Environmental Footprint
To better serve its partners, Bay Cities launched Digital Print Partners (DPP), North America’s first fully automated digital print facility for packaging and displays. It also opened a new office in Cincinnati, growing its Midwest presence and strengthening coast-to-coast reach. Its commitment to minimizing environmental impact also expanded this year, to measure and manage emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3.
Bringing The Industry Together At Winning@Retail
This spring, Bay Cities hosted its biannual Winning@Retail conference in Redondo Beach, CA, bringing together top minds in retail, packaging, and shopper marketing. The event delivered real insights and actionable strategies for navigating today’s rapidly evolving retail landscape.
From panels Mastering Walmart and Brand Power to keynotes with thought leaders like Garry Ridge (former CEO of WD-40) and Steve Frenda (Inspiring-Retail) and Peter Adderton (Mobile/MobileX Founder), Winning@Retail served as a reminder that when strategy, storytelling, and execution come together, retail wins.
Wins for People and Community
Bay Cities’ culture as a 100 percent employee-owned company sets it apart. This year, it brought employee owners together for the ESOP Olympics, the annual company picnic, and “national holiday” Halloween, where creativity (and costumes!) took center stage.
Additionally, when wildfires struck Los Angeles, the team acted fast, assembling and distributing donated items and essential kits filled with blankets, socks, masks, activities, pet food, bowls, and leashes. It also donated to Disaster Relief – Habitat For Humanity of Greater Los Angeles to help the local community and displaced people and pets.
As we celebrate our 69th, we’re more energized than ever to keep pushing what’s possible in the industry. We remain committed to innovation, sustainability, and our belief that when we win, we win together, as owners.
