This year’s FTA Technical Conference, held September 21–23 in Orlando, Florida, focused on real-world solutions, the kind that help converters, printers, and brand owners elevate their operations.

Under the leadership of Conference Chair Bob Coomes of PPC Flexible Packaging, the 2025 agenda offered 24 technical sessions, totaling more than 800 minutes of education.

Among the dominant themes this year were Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications and Tolerances (FIRST) methodologies— optimization, fingerprinting, characterization, process control and process improvement–that continue to shape the future of flexographic printing.

The conference also highlighted emerging technologies — from AI to RFID integration to inline color measurement systems.

The FTA Technical Conference focused on case studies and troubleshooting. Printers and suppliers shared first-hand experiences addressing flexography’s variables, substrate challenges, and workflow bottlenecks.
